Winter needs us POW

Winter needs us POW

There’s no place like home – and since ours is this planet, we believe in doing all we can to help save it. That’s why we’ve partnered with Protect our Winters NZ. We envision a future in which people and nature thrive together. Science shows us this vision of the future is achievable, but we must act together and we must act now.

Protect Our Winters was founded in 2007 by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones in reaction to the effect that climate change was having on the areas used by winter athletes. Jones developed POW as a way of mobilizing the winter sports community & like-minded businesses, uniting them in political advocacy focused on fighting climate change.

Here at b.effect brewing company, we have committed to donating all profits from the sale of We Love POW Pale Ale cans directly back to Protect our Winters Aotearoa.

Curious how you can do your part? Here are a few tangible ways to get involved.

  1. Drink More Beer
Kidding. Well, kind of… Every dollar of profit from the POW Pale Ale goes directly back to POW NZ. This is drinking you can feel good about. Head to our online shop to get this guilt-free beer delivered straight to your door.
  2. Sign up to be a POW Member
Join Protect Our Winters NZ and be part of the solution. Visit their website, https://protectourwinters.nz/join-pow/, to learn more about how you can have an impact in the fight against climate change.
  3. Write a letter to your MP in regards to the release of the IPCC report
Chances are, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the IPPC report. The report is long and can be overwhelming, BUT the policymakers report is only 40 pages, and it’s worth a read through. Every word of the summary has been approved by all IPCC member’s governments (195 countries). It’s imperative for us to fully understand the reality and magnitude of the current state of the world. It’s even more essential that our MP’s and other policymakers read and understand the report so they can propose new policies and guide New Zealand on the right path.

Here’s how you can do your part, it takes the same amount of time that it would take to drink a beer. Go on, crack open a POW Pale Ale and get to writing, we’ll call this one multi-tasking. A win-win for all parties involved. Please see the link below that has an easy template for you to modify with a personal message and contact details for all MP’s to write. There is no room for apathy anymore. So, email your MP, using the template below, and let them know that you want to see climate action.
